ARE YOU REGISTERED?

You must be a U.S. citizen to be eligible to vote, and in most states you must be 18-years old to vote, Some states, however, allow 17-year olds to vote. Each state has its own residency requirements and voter registration deadlines, so be sure to check with your local elections office.

DO YOU NEED ID?
Some states require you to show ID when you vote in person, and recent changes in laws and court decisions occur every day causing confusion amongst voters. Check with your local election official and make sure you have the necessary identification required to cast your vote.

ARE YOU AN INFORMED VOTER?
Do you know the candidates on the ballot? Do you know their position on issues of concern to you, your family and community? Will there be questions on the ballot? Will there be a ballot measure, initiatives or referendum? Most local election officials provide a sample ballot on their website and some even mail voter guides to voter homes. Check with your local election official to know what is on the ballot before you head to the polls.
